With the days being so short at this time of year I often wake up in time to see the sunrise. As you can see from the picture, when I looked out the window on this particular morning, it looked like the sky was on fire – I guess it was.
Every time I see a sunrise I’m a little taken aback. The power and strength it brings. The warmth, and the energy it offers. It’s a chance to start new. And it happens every single day.
A client of mine once told me that when things get really hard or nothing seems to be going right, she takes a moment to remember that no matter what happens the sun will always rise the next day. Just before I started writing this note I was on a coaching call with a client of mine. She told me that she was scared. She told me that she didn’t have the confidence that she wanted or needed to work the plan we had discussed. We talked about it for a while to help her see that she was completely qualified and capable of doing what we proposed.
If only it were that easy. Wouldn’t it be nice if just knowing that you were capable of doing something would stop the fear? Well maybe it’s time to remind ourselves that no matter how bad things feel the sun will come up tomorrow. The earth will continue to orbit around the sun. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll have moved a bit closer to your goals.
