I participated in a chili cook-off.
There were four teams. Each team was given the same ingredients, the same utensils and access to the same serving dishes. We all heard the directions at the same time.
The clock started, we had 45 minutes to create our chili and present it to the judges.
We got to work.
When the timer went off four very distinct dishes were presented to the judges. Each dish had a unique taste. Each chili looked different and was presented differently.
How could this be if we all started with exactly the same resources?
The difference was simple. It was what we, as a unique team, brought to the challenge.
It’s the same thing in your business.
I’m a business coach. There are a lot of business coaches out there. We all do the same thing and have the same goals. We help our clients with strategy, marketing and sales. We help our clients create successful businesses and make more money.
Why aren’t all business coaches the same?
In the entrepreneurial world we live in, we all have the same access to information and tools.
Why isn’t everyone, who does what you do, the same?
It’s because of one special ingredient…YOU.
It’s what you do with the training, the ideas and the strategies, that makes what you provide different from everyone else.
It’s not about the ingredients or the instructions. It’s about which ingredients you choose to use & how you choose to use them. What do you add? What do you leave out? How long do you leave it simmering? What unique twist can only you bring to the finished product?
In the end there is only one thing you sell that is special and that is you.
You sell your unique gifts, your many faults and certainly your quirks.
Flaunt your uniqueness because that’s what will make whatever you serve stand out.
Oh, in case you were wondering, my team won, not because we used different resources but because of the unique way we brought those resources together and presented them.
What can you do to make yourself stand out from the crowd?
How can you mix up your basic ingredients in such a way that your service is the one people want?
