The biggest problem I see among the people I speak with is quite simple…they don’t decide. They allow themselves to “think about it” or “decide later”. The end result of not deciding “yes” or “no” is that nothing happens and they are stuck.
Last week was an incredible week. I opened up my calendar to you and gave you the opportunity to be “laser-coached.” I asked 30 entrepreneurs about the biggest challenge they were facing in their business. Each had their own answer but what it all boiled down to was one thing…deciding.
I spoke with a coach who wanted to help other women going through divorce. She couldn’t decide what to name her business. She felt that until she had a name for her business she could not ask anyone to work with her and as a result, she was not in business, not earning any money and not helping the people she desperately wanted to help.
I spoke with a woman interested in creating a resource for local shoppers and offer them a central place to find coupons and learn about specials at local stores. She couldn’t decide if there would be a market for it. As a result, she felt stuck. She thought there was a market for her idea but was not marketing it. What’s more is that this idea had been playing around in her head for over a year. Without a go/no-go decision it will still be in her head in another year.
I spoke with one man who was contemplating a variety of follow up systems to keep in touch with prospective clients. The result of his indecision was that at this point he wasn’t staying in touch with anybody. Lost opportunities were all around him. He had few clients and little income.
Finally, I spoke with another man who knew that he needed a mentor or coach but after speaking with several people and doing a lot of research online couldn’t decide who to hire. He knew he needed support but after six months of shopping around he still didn’t have any. Now, in addition to not having support, he’s also beating himself up wondering what might have been if he had jumped in six months ago.
Making a decision and committing to following through with it can be very scary. You wonder what if you make a wrong decision? What if you travel down the wrong path? What if the other path would have yielded better results? On the other hand…what if by doing this I am successful beyond my wildest dreams?
In the end, unless you make a decision nothing happens. Things stay exactly the same. Opportunities are missed or passed up as are chances to learn and grow.
What decision have you been holding back on? What would happen if you just decided yes or no?
Go ahead…decide and take one step to make it happen!
What decision did you make?
I’d love to know…please go ahead and share it with me in the comments section.

This certainly rings a true and familiar bell. Not making decisions suck! Getting stuck is the worst and the most expected result… Then it makes you regret as well. You look back and examine your life, realizing that you “could have” been somewhere else down the line to success.

Try not to regret where you could have or should have been because it’s not going to get you there. Instead decide where you want to go as of today and go there!
